Pregnancy #2 (Sawyer)
Pregnancy #1 (Jackson)
My beautiful Momma.
My Mom and I on the beach.
Momma and me and some fabulous homemade Aladdin birthday cake!
My Mother-in-law and I.
My Godmother and I (swollen face and all) and soon to birth Jackson.
Mother’s Day. The day especially for the hardest working
people I know. I have the privilege of knowing and learning from some
super wonderful Mommas in my life. Women who have taught me how to be strong, resilient,
courageous, loving and tender all at the same time! Looking back on my life and
the women who helped mold me into who I am and who constantly set an example
every day for those of us who are still learning how to be halfway decent at
this, oh-so important role of motherhood, I realize just how lucky I am. Cause
this job is by no means easy. But the reward is one I don’t currently have
words for, just emotions… My heart flutters as I think of the words I want to
write about all the women who inspire and challenge me to be a great mother to
my own children. Mommas are super heroes! And most of the time they make it all
look so easy. From digging through clean, yet to be folded and put away, laundry
on my living room floor to find another pair of underwear for the kids at
almost mid-night (because I didn’t have time to fold them and woke up out of a
dead sleep remembering there weren’t anymore undies in their drawer for the next day)
to praying constantly for safety, happiness, health and a Jesus-filled heart for
my kids... the job never ends! These are a Mother’s duties, among many.
My own Momma, my Mother-in-Law and my God-Mother are the
women that come to mind when I am trying to muster the wisdom and know how to
get through tough times, raising kids, and being as good a wife as I can be to
my husband. These women push through life with true grit, sacrificing their own wants and needs, and yet still have a
kindness and gentleness about them when it comes to taking care of their loved
ones, children and anyone else who needs it. I heard on the radio this week that 70% of all people believe mothers are stronger than anyone. They don’t get praised enough!
They don’t get enough payment, love, time off or pampering. Moms take care of
us all and save whatever is left over at the end of the day, which isn’t much,
for themselves. They save the day on a daily basis, it's just a fact. And as I am now becoming a mother for a third
time I want to strive to be better than I have been thus far. Less yelling and
more bonding both come to mind… and both are a constant work in progress. Those feelings of protectiveness, worry and
love get stronger and my heart grows larger from the love I give and receive as
a daughter and a mother. I read recently that having a child is very
similar to falling in love and I completely agree! It’s like falling in love
and knowing ahead of time you will never fall out. Show your Mother some love no matter how or what you do. Just make sure she feels appreciated for all she does!
To all you Mommas
Happy Mother’s Day!
