Our trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains was a success,
exhausting, but still a success. These kids have all known each other since
they were born and will play for hours when they get together. So they were in
heaven all weekend. It was freezing the
whole time and rained half the time so it was not the best for outdoor play but
we made the most of it. We bundled up to go out and brave the cold so we could
all let off some built up steam and energy. We were right on the creek where a
lot of fishing went on. My husband especially loved this. He is a fly fisherman
and he took full advantage of the opportunity. It was nice to be able to constantly hear the
rushing water and be able to look out any time at the raw land and be so close
to nature. It just makes you feel different. Peaceful is a good word for it.
The ladies got some good talk time after the kids were in
bed. It is so nice to catch up and have a laugh with women you trust and admire
and are so thankful to have in your life. Our Wal-Mart grocery run for more food and supplies was hilarious. We
filled two carts full for only a two day stay. So it’s safe to say no one was
malnourished on this trip. We went a little overboard but I guess that’s what
you do when you want to be sure you are prepared to feed 16 people. The kids
decorated Valentines cookies that were from a place back home called Signal
Mountain Cookie Lady. Her cookies are the best and she has recently began
offering cookie decorating kits where everything is ready to go and so easy to
use. Check her out on Facebook! The kids loved decorating and the end product
was so yummy! The weekend was full of meltdowns, stinky smells, and over the
top emotions of 8 children all under 5 years old but these kids have our hearts
and these times are passing too fast not to try and enjoy the chaos and madness
while it’s happening. We did decide that our next cabin trip will be kid free
adult time and after this trip I think we all deserve it.
Talk to ya'll soon.
Love Heather
I completely agree! Time passes way too quickly to not create/love/soak up these moments that we will remember for years to come :) Now when is that adult trip??!! :)
