S'more toasting in progress.
Enjoying a cool after dinner treat!
Love these table and chairs. Still looks just as good and sturdy a year later!
Water table fun! Why Jackson has on sweats in July I have no idea haha...
Now that summer seems to be in full swing I thought I would
share another home update we did last year, our patio area. After we updated
our screened porch I wanted to use the little bit of flat space in our backyard
we had left, our yard is large but on a slant, to extend the outdoor
living area and make the most of the yard. So firstly I had to sell my husband
on the idea. It took a few detailed conversations on budget, time frame and how
much work was involved and he finally came around after some compromising on
both of sides. It was a tad bit more work than we initially thought but I think
all projects tend to be. Overall we were super happy with the outcome due to
the bang for our buck that we got out of shopping around, planning ahead and
not using concrete for the actual patio. I would have loved to have a stamped
concrete patio however our budget just didn’t allow for that at the time. So we
found a great alternative in pea gravel and stone pavers/flower bed edgers.
I initially only wanted some Adirondack chairs and an
outdoor dining space. But Aaron added in a fire pit which I did not want to
begin with but ended up liking after all was said and done. The way the land
goes up into the woods behind our house made a great space for a flower bed so
we went with it and utilized that space because it was already edged out with
pavers from the patio outline. This spot also happens to be our late puppy’s
grave, Maynerd. So it holds a sweet spot
for us to plant some flowers there. We had room for the kid’s water table which
is used most weekends along with their mini Adirondack chairs around the fire
pit. They love this area. Start up the bubble machine and the sprinkler and
they are good to go for hours. We can have lunches and dinners out here and it
just makes summer outdoor life a little bit easier and more fun to have a place
to relax and enjoy! I have included a few pictures of this space, start to
finished product!

Start to finish...
Our little kings presiding over the work being done.
Aaron, his Dad and best friend hard at work.
We measured for how many garden edgers were needed, sprayed weed killer and then outlined the area with pavers.
They precisely laid the pavers out.
...Then started laying the weed blocker and staking it down.
The start of the fire pit.
...The spreading of the pea gravel...
Child labor at its finest.
Patio finished-Before furniture was added... Aaron resting and most likely wondering why he agreed to this project...haha
Talk to ya'll soon!
Happy summer outdoor updates to you!
Love Heather
