Memories, Heritage and Life Changes

I have been trying to post consistently each week since I started and I really love the process of writing to whoever stops by and checks out what I have to say. But this past weekend we had a passing in our family, my Mammaw. We knew it was coming. To be honest it, if up to the doctors, it should have happened months ago. But this little lady was a fighter and waited until the Good Lord took her home, In His time, as we often say. I really didn't want to go too deep with details of morbid undertones or bring anyone down with the woes of life. Potty training is as real as it gets...

So with parenthood comes a lot of love, adoration and tender moments but also some moments you just want to forget. But instead of forgetting them I am here to share mine with you because they are funny, relatable and real. So here goes… We almost have Sawyer potty trained. Peeing in the potty is just life now. However he does not want to poop in the potty. No matter what… He is scared of the toilet. He goes all day peeing in the toilet, standing up none the less. He is great at keeping a dry pull up and underwear, when I dare to risk a pair. And now he has evidently set up a schedule for himself to poop every few days and inevitably every Saturday morning. Early Saturday mornings! So I try to keep up with his schedule and make sure he is in a pull up on those days to catch these digestive gems and save as many pairs of underwear and shorts as possible. And then on Saturday mornings before I can even wake up he comes in and tells me “Mommy, I have sumpin on my butt butt.” U...

Boo!!! Says Baby Caroline on her First Halloween!

Today is Halloween and Caroline's first ever! She is sporting a little tutu outfit from Carter's and I think she likes it! Don't you? Her little round face gets me every time! We are super excited to stuff our faces with Reese cups, chili and Fritos and drink some hot apple cider tonight! Well she can't yet do any of those things but I sure can. So I'll be showing her how it's done! Everything will be calorie, carb and fat free or that's what I'll be telling myself! Y'all better go get your Halloween Party on! We will be trick or treating in my in-laws neighborhood with our 3 kiddos and trying to ward off the dreaded sugar high meltdown before bedtime! My in-laws cook and usually have an outdoor movie playing on the driveway for the kids and to enjoy while we watch the last of the trick or treaters come and go.
